Hey! I'm working for someone in the city today so I can actually go into trader joes and whole foods after work, normally they're 45 minutes away! What are your favorite foods you get there? I like to keep it all mostly healthy, but anything cool and different I can try would be great! Our whole foods is HUGE. Also, for those of you who have been there, what do you think of Earth Fare? One is opening about 10 minutes from my house soon, but I've read they're more expensive than trader joes and whole foods. Just not sure if it'll be worth it to have a health food store near me, or if it makes more sense to take the trip to whole foods and trader joes once in awhile.

I'm a vegetarian by the way, lacto technically? I don't eat eggs but I eat things with milk in them.

365 (Whole Foods brand) shampoo and shower gel. I wouldn't recommend eating it, however.

Is the 365 brand vegan? I am in the process of switching over to everything vegan. I love both of those stores and I don't have a problem spending a ton of money when I go to either place. I definitely couldn't pick any favorite items. If you eat cheese, WF fresh veggie pizza is TDF. Unfortunately, I can't eat that anymore (vegan), but for those who can, it's really good and very reasonably priced.

According to the bottle it is -- no animal testing, no animal products.

Trader Joe's Organic 3-Grain Tempeh - very low sodium, high protein, high fiber. My all-time fav TJs item.

I always get the 365 brand of woven wheat crackers. They look like Triscuits, but they only have two ingredients - woven wheat and salt. No oil or anything funky. I love those.

I also pick up bagged raw pumpkin seeds from their nuts, seeds and dried fruits section.

Another staple is Coconut Secret coconut amino acids, found next to the soy sauces. It's a soy-free version of soy sauce and it's really yummy and great for Asian cooking. The bottle is six dollars, but I get five to six months out of it so that's okay with me.

And finally, Field Roast grain meat. I love the Italian flavor veggie sausages. Slightly spicy and so good.

Oh, and Earth Balance margarine. I do the soy-free version and I can only find it at Whole Foods.

I may have to go to Whole Foods today! Stomach is growling now

I love the Trader Joe's Multigrain Pancake and Baking Mix. It is AMAZING. Great to whip up a few biscuits to go with dinner, or pancake for breakfast.

Daiya vegan cheese
Bulk grains
Nutritional yeast flakes
TJ's Peanut butter
TJ's salsa
Nut butters

As for not-exactly-healthy things, I like TJ's Quinoa and black bean tortilla chips. They have a lot less sodium per serving than most tortilla chips. And I'm satisfied with just a handful. They are so delicious!

I also get TJ's maple syrup, and on my last trip I discovered that their semisweet chocolate chips are vegan. This is great because they are about a dollar and change cheaper than Ghirardelli's chips, which I had been buying.

So I went a little nuts! I bought the following:

Gardenburgers, chipotle black bean and sundried tomato.
Organic baby spinach and baby kale mix
Organic apples (forget which kind, but they're super sweet)
Fresh ground peanut butter, just organic peanuts. Super yummy with my apples!
Garden of Eatin Blue Corn Tortilla Chips (whole foods had a dollar off coupon for them).
Homemade whole foods hummus.
Ezekiel bread, the cinnamon raisin kind. So. Good.
Earth balance spread
Clif bars (again, coupon)
Horizon organic yogurt tubes (like the little kid ones. So much more fun haha)
Red, yellow, and orange bell peppers
Sandwich thins for my burgers
Big thing of broccoli
Naked juice, blue machine

So yeah. I'm proud of what I found. I will look more next time, my mom was kinda rushing me....

At my TJ's there is a lentil wrap that I really like. Yum.
Peanut butter puffins cereal is at both WF and TJ's. Same for Tofurky deli slices.
I like TJ's baked tofu, teriyaki flavor.
I like the soy and almond yogurts and puddings available at WF. And WF has the best selection of vegan cheeses. I like daiya and teese the most.
Tj's grain milk is good, as is their chocolate almond milk.
WF has good veggie meats like Field Roast and Tofurky sausages.
TJ's has a soyrizzo thingy that I think is lower fat. And TJ's has two buck chuck (3 bucks where I live).
WF has fair trade bananas, both have fair trade coffee and chocolate.
The WF bins are pretty good - cheapest steal cut oatmeal in town.
WF also has all the cool frozen veggie meats and the vegan pizzas... all kinds of things. And they have the salad bar/deli and bakery that offers plenty of vegan options.

TJ's non-dairy 'cream cheese' spread. Much better than any other brand I've tried.
