Does all ramen have some kind of meat in it or are there some flavors that don't have meat in it? I heard that there are also "vegan friendly" ramen brands out there, is that true? If so, what are they called??

Dr. McDougall's and Koyo Asian also make vegan ramen, but they're not my favorite. I'm partial to the junky ones I grew up with

In addition to what's already been mentioned, Annie Chun makes vegan ramen and soup bowls too. You can also find ones in Asian supermarkets that are vegan.

Dr. McDougal's "Chicken" Ramen is my favorite.

Hmmm, never seen that one before. Are you sure there's no beef/chicken fat in it? Most of them have it.

It looks like the mushroom flavor is vegetarian but not vegan. I've never seen it in stores, though!

Here are the ingredients:

I wonder if the Maruchan mushroom was discontinued or something, I don't see it on their site. I'll keep an eye out for it.

are you sure?
I remember, a few years back, my friend (a new vegetarian at the time) made the same statement about the same product, and when I checked myself, I found some meat flavoring.
Look again, and make sure you read all the ingredients on the back. If I remember correctly, there's two lists - it's not on the first, but on the second.
Granted, they could have changed it since, but you can never be too safe.

But I hate Wal-Mart I'll check my local grocery store for them today and if I don't find them, I'll have my bf buy them for me

When I did an online search, I saw that too. I always read the label to be safe.

Positive. The website confirms their veganness. A lot of people call all ramen noodles top ramen, so maybe the bag you read wasn't Top Ramen brand. The oriental Maruchan contains beef powder.

I'll second this, I'm holding a pack in my hand right now. Definitely vegan.

I went to the store yesterday and bought 8 packets of Oriental Top Ramen, all vegan No Shin cups, so I'll ask my bf to scope out WM for them. Got one of these instead, there was a $1 off coupon on it, so it was $3.

I LOVE noodles. I could seriously eat them alllll day.

I buy KOYO brand ramen. They are all vegetarian and every flavor I'm familiar with is vegan. I buy them at the health food store. Apparently you can buy them online too (more expensive, but if you really crave ramen it's worth it)! My favorite flavors are the lemongrass ginger and the garlic pepper. http://www.koyonaturalfoods.com/prod...px?catid=Ramen

Thai Kitchen makes several varieties of ramen that are veg friendly, with rice noodles so they are MUCH lower in fat content. My favorite is the Spring Onion flavor.

The Nissin website states that the Chili flavor is also vegetarian, I may get some of those next time, for a little variety.

Amazon has them (Maruchan Mushroom), but I'm cautious to order them, just in case they contain animal products.

Oh my gosh, NEED! I'm on the hunt for the chili ramen tomorrow

Dan, I'm not so sure that your question is going to get answered in this thread. If you want to start a new thread and ask the board, you might get more responses.
