so, we have a gazillion threads on VB about tattoos and i figured ONE stickied thread would be good to show off our body art.
not really any rules other than no nudity and please resize your photos before posting them as it can really stretch peoples screens out and we also miss out on really getting a good view of your tattoo! if you can't resize easily, just post the link to it.
if you don't have them uploaded, http://www.flickr.com is an excellent free site and it also has different sizes to choose from for your photos so it helps when posting.
you can either attach your photo (paper clip right above the text box) or you can put the actual picture link into (img) (/img) tags. [ ] instead of ( ).
ok, i currently have no pictures of my actual tattoo except for a really rough drawing of it. and i already have plans for at least two more.
This one is an ambigram for my astrological element (air). It's from Angels and Demons by Dan Brown
I have ten oak leaves tattooed in white down my right arm.
These forget-me-nots were done when my brother came out to visit right before he was deployed.
This is my latest tattoo. I found it in a book of Bosch's work. In the book it's just a black and white sketch. Can you believe it's actually a cover-up? It measures about seven inches across and is on my right shoulder blade.
I've got several other small ones as well. My next piece will be a half sleeve of lily-of-the-valley in honor of my mom and her mother who committed suicide before I was able to meet her.
Is this a Mark ryden design? It looks a LOT like his work! I love him!
I have a fleur del lis on the back of my neck and a boston terrier on my left calf. The boston terrier is wearing a crown and there is a banner around him that reads 'In Dogs We Trust' I will try to get pics to post.
I want another fleur de lis on the top of my foot and another dog tattoo with the union jack that reads 'Dog Save the Queen'
nice tattoos, everyone! thanks for getting the ball rolling and posting some good pictures!
pentacle: i'm curious about the oak leaves. what made you decide to do them in white and is there a story behind them? do you have a shot that shows more than one of'em?
In Celtic mythology the oak tree stands for strength and wisdom (among other things) and white is the color of divinity. They are also the symbols for a group I belonged to. So for my birthday this year I was inspired to have those two things combined and tattooed down my arm. I works out pretty well since I work in a fairly conservative establishment with a "no visible tattoos" rule. Since you've got to be fairly close to see the leaves they let it slide. =) I'll try to get some pictures of my arm to post soon.
Did the same artist do all of yours? She's very good. I'm excited to see your next one(s)!
love that saying; it's so powerful, yet terse. and yea. i have known her since the sixth grade! she is vegetarian so she is knowledgable about the inks. i love her color and she is a great artist. i designed the creature with the blue person in its mouth. but i do my own form of art and i think that this is hers so i trust her work and whatever she somes up with!
