Does anyone here quilt? I'm working on a summer quilt that I was hoping to have finished before my parents get here next Wednesday (because we don't have a big-enough quilt for the bed they'll be sleeping on except for a down comforter). But I realized last night that (a) the top is bigger than the batting and (b) the batting got stretched in the washer and is therefore thin and flimsy in parts. (It's cotton batting.) Now I'm dejected about the whole project and tempted to go out and buy a sweatshop quilt (i.e. $30 department store quilt with 1 stitch per inch) because I don't want to think about it anymore.

On the other hand, after my wedding (when my parents leave) I have plans for a baby quilt for a friend of mine. I'll have slightly less than a month to do it, but it's only a baby quilt...the next project is always easier and more fun than the current one.

Well, when I made my two quilts, the batting I used wasn't very expensive. Couldn't you just buy more? You could use the cotton batting inside pillows instead, just cut and fold it.
