Bean Burger Recipe
5 No - Burger buns
½ cup - Oil
1 cup - Black beans or Kidney beans
1 cup - Potatoes boiled mashed
1 No - Onions diced finely
¼ cup - Spring Greens or leek stems finely chopped
1 tsp - Garlic finely chopped or grated
½ No - Tomato finely chopped
¼ tsp - Ginger finely chopped or grated
1 tsp - Green chilli finely chopped or grated
¼ tsp - Cumin powder
1 tbsp - Coriander chopped (optional)
½ tsp - Chilli powder or Hot sauce
3 tbsp - Corn flour
4 No - Bread crumbs
1 tsp - Mixed herbs or Oregano
1 tsp - Fresh chopped basil
1 tsp - Seasoned salt
Pepper to taste
6 No - Lettuce leaves
6 No - Cheese sheets
6 No - Tomato finely sliced
Put the baked beans in a separate bowl. Lightly mash of ½ them and leave the rest as it is.
Mix all the ingredients and seasonings.
Grind the bread crumbs and add them in the above mix with some corn flour to get a firm dough.
If you feel more seasoning is needed increase as per taste.
If extra corn flour is needed for binding then add some.
Roll out the dough to make patties.
Heat a heavy based pan (preferably cast iron) and add 2-3 tbsp of oil.
Place the patties on it and let it cook till brown. Then reverse the side and do the same.
Serve with cheese, lettuce, tomato and any sauce of your choice.
