mmm mac n cheese. The gooey cheese, the flavour, the texture!! You miss it right? Well I did some experimenting today and this glorious product is what I came up with
2 cups organic pasta, preferably macaroni
1/2 cup of vegan margarine
2 1/2 dollops of vegenaise
1/3 cup of nutritional yeast (you can add more later if you want)
about 2 tbsp of flour (I use home made corn flour)
Salt and pepper to taste
imitation bacon bits (optional)
1/4 cup of unsweetened soy milk
a tsp of basil or basil to taste
a tsp of turmeric
1 mini crock-pot (also optional but recommended)
Put your pasta in some water and let it boil.
Melt margarine in a sauce pan, pour in turmeric and water and 1 1/2 dollops of vegenaise. Stir until smooth, add soymilk and nutritional yeast. Stir until smooth again. Add flour, salt, and pepper. Should be thick about now, go ahead and mix your macaroni in if its done. Add basil and imitation bacon. Cook a little bit, add one dollop of vegenaise and maybe a little more yeast depending on taste. You could eat it now, OR you could throw it in a mini crock-pot and let that go for an hr and a half OOOOOR you could pop it in the oven at 350 for about 30 mins.
