They're pretty yum, but don't taste much like Anzac biscuits.

An Anzac is..

Well Anzac stands for Australia New Zealand Army Corp.. it's to do with the first world war and the battle at Gallopoli, and well basically any war.. we have called Anzac day (which is MASSIVE) (25th of April) where we remember all those who fought for our freedom, there's heapsa parades etc etc.

will prob explain it better then I can.

Bikie is biscuit. You couldn't call it an Anzac cookie.. that'd just be.. so wrong.

Anzac biscuits are a traditional Aussie biscuit. You Yank call them "cookies" I believe.

ANZAC stands for Australian New Zealand Army Corp, and ANZAC day is the 25th of April, a day for commemorating those who have died in the defence of their country.

Can honey (I realize not strictly vegan) or agave nectar be substituted for the golden syrup? Thanks.

Try one of these for golden syrup:

Quote:
Substitutes:  Combine two parts light corn syrup plus one part molasses OR maple syrup (This is thinner, and not as sweet.) OR dark corn syrup (This is thnner and not as sweet as golden syrup.  If you like, try reducing the corn syrup in a saucepan to thicken it.) OR light corn syrup (This is thnner and not as sweet or flavorful as golden syrup.  If you like, try reducing the corn syrup in a saucepan to thicken it.)

I've used the light corn syrup +  molasses sub for golden syrup when making flapjacks (the British oat bar, not pancakes).
