Sour Cream/Brown Sugar Strawberries

Category: Appetizers and Dips

Suitable for a: vegetarian diet

Ingredients:

------------------------------------------------------

brown sugar

sour cream (or soy cream)

fresh strawberries

Instructions:

------------------------------------------------------

Start of course by rinsing your strawberries. Then simply arrange them around a container of sour cream and another of brown sugar, and serve. Each guest picks a whole strawberry and dips it once in the sour cream and then coats it in brown sugar.

The effect is amazing! I was served this at a party recently and it blew my mind. At first I thought, "Um, sour cream with sweetness...I don't think so". But then I saw kindergarten age children eating it and figured if kids like it it's probably not so bad. WOW! The sourness adds an interesting dynamic and draws all three superb flavors together for one exceedingly pleasant taste. And for so long all three ingredients sat in my kitchen separately before one genius came along and married them into a beautiful union. Who knew?

We do this but add a tablespoon or 2 of brandy to this mixture and it is awesome.
