I was wondering if its normal to feel and look bulky when going vegan? I've been eating vegan (well trying as best as I can) for the last three weeks and although I've maintained the same weight, I feel more bulky and definitely look more jiggly. I've been trying to eat right and I haven't gone super crazy on the vegan junk food, and I exercise. So how do I start feeling less bulky? I know that this is such a wierd topic, I just didn't know where to put it.

If you are eating the same number of calories and maintaining the same exercise schedule, veganism wouldn't directly effect your 'jiggle' status. Are you eating a high sodium diet? That could be causing bloat and that could definately make you feel and look a larger.

(Bold added.)

I've no idea...but Jinga's response, along with the humor (intentional or not), was a pretty good guess I'd say

Cheers!

You may have increased your fiber intake which would make you more bloated.

Are you on your period? That could contribute. (I'm assuming you're female based on your screenname.)

Q: How many poets does it take to change a light bulb? A: 1001...one to change the bulb, 1000 to say it's already been done.

I'm not bloaty due to the menses yet (thankfully). It might have something to do with the fiber and salt contents of my food. I have been eating more grains and beans since going vegan. Thanks for the advice. BTW "jiggle status" made me giggle too. It sounds like a band put together by the Jello industry.

Just make sure you don't succumb to the misconception that just because a food is vegan, it's automatically healthy and you should eat as much of it as you want! I'm not saying you are doing this - but I've known plenty of people who think they will automatically slim down as long as the food they are eating is vegan, and they actually end up gaining weight because they went a little crazy with their portions.

Yeah I definitely I'm staying away from that kind of mindset, Colorful. In the past whenever someone had a vegan dessert it was like " Ooh vegan brownies! I'll take three 'coz they must be healthy." I'm trying to use the vegan food pyramid I found in becoming vegan as my guide.

try to eat more and more whole, unprocessed foods.. the increase in fiber may bloat at first, but following this ive seen a huge difference in my body composition.. also, eat smaller quantities more frequently
