Question What motivates you when you don't feel like working out?

I know that life has ebbs and flows, especially when it comes to working out. I wanted to know what everyone does to help stay motivated? For me, yoga is a terrific release because it allows me time to gather myself--to balance myself--in such a hectic world. There are times however when I do not feel like doing yoga, or I do not feel like working out. Since the benefits of yoga are numerous--it sharpens your mind, enables you to eat better, tones your body, increases flexibility, improves cardio health, etc.--I think it is incredibly important that I stay inspired and force myself to make time each day (or at least every other day) for a quick yoga workout. To get me going, no matter the situation or whatever feeling I have, I've always turned to inspirational quotes. Does anyone else use quotes as motivation for workouts? My personal favorite it: "the success of Yoga does not lie in the ability to perform postures but in how it positively changes the way we live our life and our relationships." What are your favorite inspirational quotes?

Often times, just thinking back to a little lover two years ago when I was still a fairly sedentary Standard American Diet consumer having become damn near bed ridden, compared to my mini-trampoline bouncing self and my hula hooping 50 year old self, weighing in 110lbs lighter and having shed much suffering, is enough to get the momentum going.

But I, too, benefit from and enjoy a boost in my spirits from recalling wise words to help me stay on track.

"Nothing tastes as good as feeling good and healthy feels." Not sure who said it, but they were spot on and it helps keep me focused on the whole food plant-based scene.

"The flow is in the know. Keep the flow on the go, or you'll be the first to know." - I say that mainly in reference to the breath, along with the lymph system and the fascia, two things I had no idea even existed until I decided to learn more about all the systems that make up this being known as me, rather than taking the professionals' word for everything. I remain fascinated.

"A.F.G.O." - Another F'n Growth Opportunity - is something I say often in response to hurdles of all kind that seem giant in the moment

Music is a great motivator, too. If I'm feeling like I want to be still, the right jam can get my groove going like no other, and the momentum just keeps building from there. Especially things like James Brown "Mind Power" and "Get On the Good Foot", or Wookiefoot, "Junk Food" and "Don't Should On Me". One of the many reasons I had to get my home set up to be exercise friendly so I could strike whenever the iron gets hot.

Seems like you could have answered your own question by describing how great you feel after doing yoga. I either remember how good I feel afterwards or look at myself and get mad how I let myself go and need to get back in shape.

If those don't work it takes some motivating videos/speeches to get me going.

Hello new to the forum.

I guess for me the drive comes from wanting to look the picture of health whilst being plant based. You know not looking sickly or that you are "lacking iron"

Other peoples success stories, quotes, good music playlists.

I'm not very good at keeping at workouts lately. I need to get myself into a routine where I just 'do' without thinking. In order to achieve this, I make goals super achievable. If I fall out of a routine for a while, I literally start again by telling myself 'I'll just do 15 minutes' and I commit doing it as soon as I come downstairs from bed before I even have a chance to think about doing something else. An alternative strategy is to attach workouts to some other already ingrained routine behaviour. That's probably not what you're looking for, but it's my way around until I've got back into a groove.

Actually, i never felt that quote going to motivate me. but my motivation which forces me to hit gym every day is when I'm in front of a mirror with my bare body i say to myself lots of work is still required to make it better and better actual we don't need someone or any special quote which work as motivation boost. instead, we must have internal feelings which motivate i.e. self-satisfaction.

I joined a gym a few years back that has a wifi connection, so I bought an iPad. And got Netflix. I made up a rule that I would pick a TV show and ONLY watch it on my iPad while using the elliptical or the treadmill. Basically, I binged watched at the gym. And it's been spotty at times but when I find "just the right" show, well.... There were times during my Sense8 period where I would never have gotten to the gym if it wasn't to find out what happened to Will or Sun. It hasn't been perfect. There were times where I wasn't so compelled. but for the most part its been fun and easy. I'm not sure if watching half a show a day is really binge watching. but for me, it converted watching TV into something I could feel good about.

Also, I don't spend as much time in the car as I used to. And when I had a longer commute I found a lot of podcasts I liked. And I still like them. So now, in order to keep up with them, I go for long walks or slow jogs. I still can't keep up - but just trying is a great motivator.

If you need any specific recommendations for NetFlix shows or Podcasts just let me know.
