Do you use one? What cool things do you do with it?

I have been using one for the last few months and I really like how it help push me. I use a basic Polar watch with chest strap. The only issues are:

- can I wear it when I swim?

- how do I wear the watch part when I'm wearing boxing gloves?

I have used my polar for several years. It has a chest strap, too. When I first got it, I was shocked at how "off" the gym machines had been when it came to my calorie expenditure. I'm a very petite female, and it's my understanding that the machines are geared to reflect the calories a man would burn - even though they do allow you to input you weight. I actually burn about 2/3 of what the machine says. I also use it to help me gauge my energy output. If I'm listening to a slow book, I don't run as fast! So I try to keep my hr in the 155-165 range.

Mine says you can swim in it. Just wear it the way you would on land, I guess. I don't know about the boxing gloves. I wonder if you could keep it in a pocket?

I think you're right about the machines. I'm tall and thick so they're more accurate for me, bur I've heard that complaint from other people.

I have yet to find a good place to stick the watch when I have boxing gloves on so lately I just don't use the monitor for that.

I think I'll try it swimming and if it breaks I'll send the company a letter askng for a new one. It says "water resistant to 100 meters" but in my experience that's always a gamble.

Yeah, I found that I workout harder when I wear the monitor than when I just go based on how I feel. It helps push me further.
