Lately i've been having these crazy cravings for sugar. I'm not sure why but now i'm thinking that I may some kind of vitamin deficiency. I take vitamins off and on they seem to make me really hungry. I'm not sure whats going on but I wanted to ask around before I see a doctor, I don't like doctors.

I have sever sugar craving too, to the point i will almost eat it straight. On occasion its so bad I'm guilty of mixing it with a little margarine and eating it that way I associate with my PMS and period issues. It happens when I have the other PMS symptoms. So I don't think it's a vitamin deficiency. Keep track of when you have them so you can tell the Dr. if there is a pattern to it.

P.S. I do not normally like sugar or overly sweet things at all, so It used to seem weird to me that I would crave it. I have the same issue with salt. I do not normally like salt, chips are overly salty for me, except when I get that sever craving. The one for salt is not as often though.

I think it could be a combination of PMS and a vitamin deficiency, I started taking calcium vitamins because I read that it could cause cravings. It seems to be working and even last week on my period I didn't want sugar as much but the week before I did. I'll see what happens next month.

Isn't it normal to have cravings for something like sugar or chocolate before your period? I always do.

I used to do the same thing -- I'd eat a quarter of a bag of chocolate chips in one sitting. I gave up processed sugar a little over a week ago and it has been surprisingly easy. The weirdest thing is that, after the third day, I had no more cravings. Maybe eat as much sugar as you want one day and then go cold turkey? That's what I did, and I feel so much healthier.

I could happily just wallow in a big vat of chocolate when I'm PMSing - I think that's normal...
