I'm currently taking Tri Previfem which is the generic form of Ortho Tri Cyclen. I am switching to Junel, which is the generic of Loestrin.

I have two pills left of Tri Previfem. After I finish those, should I do the week of sugar pills, and then start the Junel?
Can I just skip the sugar pills and start the Junel right away? That would be preferable, so I don't have my period when I'm in my brother's wedding this summer. tongue3.gif
I've tried looking online but haven't found much information...I've just read not to switch mid pack.

I think you should stay on the original schedule and take the week of placebos, but if you check with a pharmacist or your doctor, they will have a definite answer for you.

There should be an information sheet that comes with the bc pills, on that sheet is recommendations on when to begin the pack.

here is info on how to start taking the pack from the loestrin site: http://www.wcrx.com/pdfs/pi/ppi_loloestrinfe.pdf

Thanks for the replies. I had assumed I should start this pack when it's time to start a new pack...I was just hoping I could skip the placebo pills and start the new pack right away.

I read this
If you take birth control pills, you do not need to finish the pill pack before switching to another method. You can stop taking your pill at any point in the pack. If you are switching to pills from another method, you should start by taking the first pill in the pack. These rules also apply to switching from one kind of pill to another kind of pill.

which I had never heard before. It's from the AAFP website too.
