I'm having some seriously stupid skin problems. Just a few little spots on my shoulder, my belly button, the crook of my elbow. they are kind of scaly/rough, itchy and discoloured, vaguely eczema looking. and NOW they are getting worse and on top of that, i have some serious dandruff going on. i'm doing the elimination thing to see if it's an allergy thing, but has anyone else had something like this? i don't know if i should use an astringent (tea tree oil) or an eczema cream (hydrocortizone) or anything at all. suggestions? i'm also trying to quit smoking, but this isn't helping at all.

cry havoc! and let slip the dogs of war.

Sounds like it could be psoriasis? You can get that anywhere on your skin, including your scalp.

Sounds like psoriasis. The stress of quitting smoking, which is an awesome thing to do, could be a trigger. There's no real cure, just try to lower stress and consume some omega 3s. I'm genetically predisposed towards psoriasis, luckily haven't had an outbreak yet. I do get bouts of some serious dandruff though.

If it is psoriasis, then you might find relief with a product call 'Moo Goo'

They're cruelty free and some of their stuff is vegan (I think you'll be in luck with their psoriasis cream). I haven't used it, because I've never had to, but I had a co-worker who had it pretty bad and he seemed to get relief from using Moo Goo.

Though he looked thoroughly upset when I told him it was cruelty free and that his version looked like it was vegan.....

Have you tried a new detergent, moisturizer, or cleanser lately? If not it could be related to something you're eating like an allergy. Things like gluten, corn, soy, sugar, and coffee can cause skin sensitivities depending upon the person and their individual allergies. And of course processed foods can cause skin issues as well.
