Wondering if my little girl is getting too many carbs, wanted to ask you guys what you think. She is 22 months.

This is what she ate yesterday:

Bfast1: Oatmeal made with milk and added whey protein, 1 prune

Morning snack: strawberries / whole grain mini bagel with cream cheese

Lunch: stuffed shells with organic tomato sauce, tons of mixed veggies (peas/carrots/corn/green beans), grapes, milk

Snack: watermelon

Dinner: 1 ½ smart dogs and some more veggies, some pear

My daughter is on the big side, but not overweight, but I am a little worried. Ideas?

With toddlers, to get an accurate picture of a healthy diet, you really need to look at a whole week. Based on the day's worth of eating you posted, that looks pretty good. I'd probably try to get some beans or lentils in there. Any chance you're still nursing? If so, you have even less to worry about!!

Thanks girls. Yes, we actually had rice and black beans for dinner last night. :-) She had some strawberries and grapes for an afternoon snack, and some rice, beans, avocado, and broccoli, cauliflower and carrots for dinner. She had apple for dessert. I guess I just have a big eater! :-)

We actually just weaned last week. I stopped offering and she stopped asking. I thought she would never wean, lol, but she actually told me she wanted a sippy of water instead. So, I guess child-led weaning worked for us! I think 22.5 months of nursing was a great gift to my daughter, and I'd gladly do it again for another baby.

Babies go on jags when they only want to eat one thing or another thing. Carbs aren't bad! As long as they aren't processed carbs (white breads, refined sugar items). It looks like she's doing fine!
