Hi I have a few friends who are pregnant or have pregnant partners. I really enjoy crocheting and would like to make them some newborn beanies as presents. I made one but now I'm having issues knowing if its too big or not. The pattern I used uses american needle sizes and I can't work out if the one I used is the same size or not.....

Could someone please help me out with the diameter of an appropriate sized hat for an 'average' newborn head.

Thanks in advance!

Well that would be the ultimate gift for someone who really wanted it.....

But no that is not my intention at all... might have some strong objections from various people if I tried to do that!
