Does anyone here use Twitter?

From the FAQ page::

Twitter: A Whole World in Your Hands

What is it?

Twitter is a community of friends and strangers from around the world sending updates about moments in their lives. Friends near or far can use Twitter to remain somewhat close while far away. Curious people can make friends. Bloggers can use it as a mini-blogging tool. Developers can use the API to make Twitter tools of their own. Possibilities are endless!

Ok... so how does it work?

You can send updates in three ways: send a text message from your mobile phone, type a message from the Twitter site, or instant message from Jabber or Gtalk. Start by texting the word help to 40404 if you're in the United States. From Canada, use our new Canadian short code, 21212. For international Twitters, use the new UK long code: +44 7624 801423. Australia can use the new UK long code, and Italy is a special case; write us and we'll give you more information.

I guess it's kind of silly, but kinda fun, or another time-waster. I'm scorpiofae on there.

I've used it, but had to quit due to that time-wasting factor you mention. You can also hook it up with and use it as a reminder service.

I found it about a week ago so I thought I'd bump this and see what people think about it nowadays. I'm enjoying it.

They stopped sending SMS updates in the UK so I've dropped out.

Yep, me too. Makes the whole thing pointless to me. It's a shame, I think the updates were stopped in Australia too if I remember correctly.

I wanted to give this a bump...

see if anyone else is on twitter--

I am, and I love it... maybe it is time wasting, but I find it really helpful for business communications, communications with hard to reach friends, breaking news updates, polling and getting information/feedback on things, and connecting with new people/blogs/services/etc.

I'm @digitalmayhem over there...
