Does anyone know of a blog or online journal service that has the following features:
  • Allows for text and images to be inserted in the same entry
  • Allows editing to be done at any time
  • Allows you to add tags to entrys or to place entries in categories and then only view entries with a certain tag or in a certain category
  • Bonus: an option to make the journal private or to restrict who can view it

Really? Does the free version of LJ have all of those features or just the premium version?

Oh, and in case anyone is wondering, I want these features, so that I can make a reading log for a children's literature class.

OT:

You're taking a children's lit class? I'm taking one this coming semester!

I'm taking one this coming semester too. My prof. gave us our reading log assignment early so that we can work on it over Christmas (when we actually have time to read).

Thanks for your help guys. I'll check out Livejournal.

I don't like LJ. What about TypePad?

Blogger doesn't do the third thing. Not sure about the 4th. But it's super-easy.

I'm curious. Why don't you like LJ? Just a personal thing? or is there a good reason behind it?

I am only asking because I use it, and if there was a reason to not use it I would like ot know.

I don't like the commenting feature, and think it's ugly, but it's certainly not a very informed opinion. I don't love Blogger, which I use, but it's super-easy, and relatively customizable. The only thing I miss is the ability to list categories tagged in my blog entries in a sidebar list, but that one feature is not worth switching to something more complicated, IMHO, as much as I'd like it.

Thanks for the opinion epski. Unfortunately, I think that having tags is pretty important for my project.

Yeah, I would like tags. If someone set my site up with TypePad and gave me a quick up-to-speed on it, I'd probably make the switch, but at this point, I'm too invested in Blogger, despite its frequent issues. You'd think a Google-owned company wouldn't be so... evil.

I'm partial to WordPress myself, and they now have a free blog site at wordpress.com.
