Questions for Vegan drivers

Hi guys, I'm looking into buying my first car and I had no idea how stressful buying a car is for vegans. There are so many things to look out for!

Like I have just found out animal fats have been used in the process of steel and rubber in production of cars, actually shocking!

So my question is I was just wondering if anyone had any tips or suggestions for me when buying my first car.

Thanks everyone!

Well it all depends on what you need it for. Do you need to haul around other people or animals? Do you need it to be 4x4 to get where you are going? Do you need it to be able to pull a trailer or haul a load of some sort? Or do you just need a little fuel efficient run-around?

There are some animal products that you just can't avoid. The best you can do is try to make sure there's no leather in the exterior of the car (seats, wheel, etc...). The cheapest a car is, the less likely it is to have leather.

Just get anything that does not have leather seats, steering wheel, and shift knob. If you're getting a higher end luxury vehicle, you also have to be on the lookout for leather trim on the dash and doors. But why get a pretentious luxury car for a huge amount of money when you can buy something that has 98% of the function and 85% of the comfort for less than 2/3 of the price? Donate the difference to a vegan cause.

Eliminating all leather is the best you can do. Many manufacturers have fallen in love with leather on the steering wheel in recent years, so only the base trim of a lot of models can be had without any leather. Don't worry about rubber, fluids, or steel. It's a losing battle and it will drive you crazy.

I'm glad I was able to find something I liked that I was able to get with a sunroof and no leather. It wasn't easy to find.

On pricier cars, you can INSIST on fabric seats, non-leather gear shift covers and steering wheel covers, trim, etc. Trust me on this.

This is good to know for when I win the lottery and buy myself a Jaguar F type. :P
