I thought I'd start a thread for people to talk about what sort of malware they are finding on their computers.

Last night I ran Malwarebytes Antimalware (MBAM). This is my secondary AV. My primary is Kaspersky.

Anyway, MBAM found a Trojan.Clicker infection.

Summary
Also known as a trojan horse program, this is a deceptive program that performs additional actions without the user's knowledge or permission. It does not replicate.
Additional Details

A Trojan-Clicker is a type of trojan that remains resident in system memory and continuously or regularly attempts to connect to specific websites. This is done to inflate the visit counters for those specific pages.

The purpose of a trojan-clicker is to either earn money for appearing to drive traffic to specific sites (fraud) or to drain the budget of a competitor (attack) by artificially inflating the referrals that are paid for.

Updated Naming Convention

The Type designation 'Trojan-Clicker' was previously used by F-Secure to identify a trojan that continuously attempts to connect to specific websites, in order to inflate visit counters for the site.

Our naming convention has since been updated; new programs that would previously have been identified as 'Trojan-Clickers' are now designated 'Trojans'.
