Thinking of Composting with Worms - VeggieBoards

I was thinking of starting a worm composting setup. I have a few questions though. What things are safe to give them and what things are not safe to give them as far as household waste? What kind of worms can you use? Which ones are best? Do they reproduce in the composting setup? Do you have to keep buying new worms? About how long (on average) does it take a worm setup to compost a given amount of material (in your experience)?
