Hi everybody. We live in a mid-terraced house in England (I am American, hubby is English). I was looking this morning at the front garden which is pretty big and thought that I could build raised beds out there and grow fruit and veg. It is almost as big as an allotment. It gets full sun during the day, there is a picket fence out front to train berries or cordoned fruit trees on. The only worry is people stealing but maybe if I do a good job of mixing flowers with it they won't notice. I already have a lavender hedge, a red currant bush and other herbs out there with the grasses and flowers. There is only one little section of dappled shade from the neighbours trees but I read somewhere that parsley can stand dappled shade. Of course, it will be totally organic! I have never had to spray my apple tree yet because we use grease bands and pheromone traps. I turned some ladybugs loose last year to combat aphids. Couldn't believe the amount of hoverflies and butterflies in garden last summer and we now have a resident toad in the back garden. He lives under the hebe bush. I wish we could have hedgehogs in the garden but we can't have an open garden because of where we live.
