Do I need to separate the kitchen Junk ?

Since I'm a veggie, I don't usually separate my kitchen wastes and use a single dumpster for this purpose. But recently a friend of mine told we need to get separate dumpsters from the company for kitchen and office junk. Our junk removal service is the Junk It of Toronto. I have not yet called the service men.I thought if I'll ask here first if it's really necessary.

Toronto, and other cities in Canada, have city-wide centralized composting programs. In Toronto, the city's composting program is called the "Green Bin Organics Program". In this program, food scraps and other organic waste are placed in a separate bin.
