I am not from Germany, but I have lived in Austria for 10 years and I guess this is as close as it gets... And my girlfriend is from Berlin, so there, I *can* post here

epski 06-07-2004 02:17 AM

I'm thinking of moving to Germany in a couple of years... So, can I post here?

Anyone here live in Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, or Dusseldorf?

I lived in Berlin for 21 years

epski 06-07-2004 11:38 PM

Alrighty, then. What's the scoop? Major industries? Best neighborhoods? Schools? How veg-friendly is it? Give me the goods!

Kitsey 06-10-2004 11:59 AM

I am going there soon- is it ok for veggies?

Oatmeal 06-10-2004 12:58 PM

Well, I wasn't vegan when I still lived there so I can't really judge. But the times I went home for visits it was pretty decent. For vegetarians that is. There is plenty of non-meat options everywhere. It gets harder when you don't eat any dairy or eggs, I found it very hard to eat a balanced diet for an extended period without cooking everyday.

Epski, let me get back to you on the other questions

(BTW..this is Bunnyfish typing from Oat's computer/account)

caro 06-14-2004 01:31 PM

epski 06-14-2004 07:55 PM

Old question (I haven't been around that much recently)... But I have lived in Munich now for nearly 18 months. What attracts you to Germany Epski? Its a great place, I'm very happy here.

lalajenn 01-17-2005 10:43 AM

I live here in Germany like 45 min from Frankfurt. Very pretty country and clean!!

TreeManEarthSteward 01-17-2005 12:49 PM

hey German, are you (whoever) dressed in a BruceLee outfit or are you (whoever)dressed in a BruceLee outfit ?

TreeManEarthSteward 01-17-2005 12:51 PM

I'm interested to chat with anyone German btw, if that someone can abide a cool English dude, lol.

btw: its fitting by coincidence that today I have the colors red black and yellow in my avatar!

lalajenn 01-18-2005 01:56 AM

That is Ums Thurman as The Bride in the Kill Bill Volume 1 movie directed by Quentin Tarentino. I like it cause she is a female that can kick some butt. I always wanted to go to England and visit. Haven't made it yet. Will be going back to the States this year so who knows if we will ever make it there. It would be easier to get there while we are here in Germany.

Ich werde im Sommer mal wieder nach Wien fahren

Yeah, I am living in Nova Scotia. Here it is pretty boring since my university is located in a really small town in nowhere.

Austria rocks

Hallo Freunde.

On my Eco-Eating site www.brook.com/veg , I link to Vegetarier-Bund Deutschlands http://www.vegetarierbund.de/ and the International Vegetarian Union (Deutsch/German) http://ivu.org/german/, which might be useful to some on this board.

The European Vegetarian Union http://www.european-vegetarian.org/ (in Deutsch/German, at http://www.european-vegetarian.org/l...about/home.php ) might also be of interest.

Likewise with the European Vegetarian and News Agency:

hi.. so any one know anything about Kaiserslautern... like where it is? how the food for veggies are? I have friend that lives off base near there... i'm gonna go see her in july.

Jon 04-30-2006 10:47 AM

Kaiserslautern is approximately 60 miles SW of Frankfurt - Not sure if that helps. It really depends where you know. Its close (25 miles) to the French region of Alsace, and Luxembourg is not that far.

http://www.kaiserslautern.de/index.html?lang=en

There's an interactive map here ( http://www.germany-tourism.co.uk/pag...on_germany.htm ) click on Rhineland Palantinate (SW Germany) to see where it is.

No idea what the local food is like. Given the strong US links, I'm sure there would be plenty of familiar foods.

Schnootie 05-11-2006 09:26 PM

What a nice surprise! A German link on the veggie site. I am German, and lived in Stuttgart basically all my life, except a few years in Upstate NY in 1991. We moved back to NY in 2002, and are here to stay.

psi-factor 06-24-2006 10:44 AM

@Ute

so you're an american now?
