Hang in there. I know it can be tough to be in a relationship with someone who isn't veg.

I heard my uncle say,"You can't kill it, it's god's creature." In reference to a dog or cat or something being put to sleep... I think that's what it was.

What about COWS? <_<

I don't think your boyfriend has had the full realization of what he is eating. Once he does, he will realize that animals are equal and not just say it. My boyfriend is a meat eater and doesn't believe that, but he totally respects my decision. Hang in there and maybe leave little hints around the house until he gets it. Until then, come here and vent. We all know how you are feeling!

I have always loved animals dearly yet still ate meat well into my adulthood. It isn't that people don't know where meat comes from, it's kind of an indoctrination process from the time we are tiny kids that causes us to just fail to emotionally connect the food with the animal. It just doesn't register (or at least it didn't with me.)

Almost everyone I know who is veg (including me) says that one day they saw something or read something or heard something that made a lightbulb turn on in their brain. Then they could no longer see meat as anything BUT a dead creature.

Weird how the human brain works....

yeah it blows when people you know say things like that.. I also hate it when someone who eats meat gets all upset when they say/do things like.. "aww poor little bug it's going to get eaten by that spider.." gets the bug out of the spiders net and then acts like they did a good deed and go home to eat some chicken! :S

AnimalOversist - My boyfriend knows why I have been veggie for 7 years and I have given him quite a few snippets as to why I turned veggie. I don't pressure him at all because whatever I cook he eats with no complaints and likes the veggie meals that I make. In turn I don't bother him when he decides to eat meat and we just seem to work this way. We respect each other and while I wish he would go vegetarian right now I think my influence will eventually get him to be vegetarian.

My boyfriend made the decision to go vegi basically over night.... something just suddenly clicked with him and he's loving it. I didn't pressure him, in fact i told him not to do it to start with!! (i thought he was just doing it for me, turns out he couldn't care less what i thought of his eating!).

A girl I know said that about a moth at a party last week, I said "So was that chicken you just ate." and she said "Oh yeah..." and everyone laughed at her. It's so rare that my AR talk doesn't get thrown back in my face.

Wow, I am sorry to hear this! Are you ok?

When you are ready to move on, just look for someone who will fit into your life better, whether they are vegetarian or just respectful of your choices. Send me a PM if you need someone to talk too.

I don't blame you for how you are feeling, but you will see in a little bit of time that you are probably better off. Now you can go out there and find yourself someone who will love you for you and not question your actions or vegetarianism!
