I know Krista was interested in recipes for Big Black, but I thought if anyone else was interested, I'd just post the recipes. They're from a book of home made diets for cats and dogs.



First, here are the daily caloric requirements for cats:

Now... TO THE RECIPES. The calorie charts are so you know how much to feed them a day... Everything should be mixed up, and in cat bite sized pieces.



Turkey Diet - 372 kcal

6 ounces ground turkey (raw weight) cooked

1/2 egg, large, hard boiled

1 tsp vegetable (canola) oil

1/8 tsp salt substitute (potassium chloride)

3 bonemeal tablets (10 grain or equiv)

1 multiple vitamin mineral tablet



Chicken Diet - 471 kcal

1/2 lbs boneless chicken breast (raw weight), cooked

1/2 egg, large, hard boiled

1/2 ounce clams, chopped in juice

4 tsp vegetable (canola) oil

1/8 tsp salt substitute - potassium chloride

3 bonemeal tablets (10 grain or equiv)

1 multiple vitamin mineral tablet



Chicken and Rice Diet - 503 kcal

1/3 lbs boneless chicken breast (raw weight), cooked

1 egg, large, hard-boiled

1/2 ounce clams, chopped in juice

1/2 cup rice, long grain, cooked

Beef diet - 447 kcal

Beef and Rice Diet - 443 kcal

Tuna and Rice Diet - 415 kcal

4 ounces tuna, canned in water, without added salt

1 egg, large, hard boiled, 1/2 ounce clams, chopped in juice

3 bonemeal tablets (10 grain or equiv)

1 multiple vitamin-mineral tablet



Sardine Diet - 266 kcal

4 1/2 ounce dardines, canned, tomato sauce

1/2 egg, large, hard boiled

1 calcium carbonate tablet (400 mg calcium)

1 multiple vitamin-mineral tablet



Sardine and Rice Diet - 447 kcal

6 ounces sardines, canned, tomato sauce

1 egg, large, hard boiled

1/3 cup rice, long grained, cooked

1 calcium carbonate tablet (400 mg calcium)

Salmon Diet - 259 kcal

5 ounces salmon, canned with bone

1/2 egg, large, hard boiled

1 calcium carbonate tablet (oyster shell, 500 mg calcium)

1 multiple vitamin-mineral tablet



Salmon and Rice Diet - 371 kcal

5 ounces salmon, canned with bone

1/2 egg large, hard boiled

1/3 cup rice, long grain, cooked

1 tsp vegetable (canola) oil

1 calcium carbonate tablet (400 mgs calcium)

He's still having problems understanding that he's allowed to eat cat food, so for the next while, I'll make him food.

its okay. this one client at work was given recipes for kidney problems, and called to ask how to a) cook meat, b) make rice, c) buy vitamins (i.e. calcium carbonate)



i was on the phone for quite a while! (she did know how to boil an egg!)
