Finch Care

This is my first time on this site so I’m still figuring out how it works.

I recently adopted two beautiful male zebra finches. They settled in pretty quickly and get along great. They’ve been eating and drinking and flying around the cage. Everything has been going great. I have noticed one of them sitting on the bottom of the cage. He doesn’t have fluffed feathers, closed eyes, or any of the other symptoms of illness. I just wanted to check why he is doing this or if it’s normal. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum! I wish I knew more about birds. Can your local veterinarian help?

Specific recommendations for a healthy diet include: eating more fruit, vegetables, legumes, nuts and grains; cutting down on salt, sugar and fats. It is also advisable to choose unsaturated fats, instead of saturated fats and towards the elimination of trans-fatty acids."
