Thinking about getting a pair when I have less pets.

I would like to know how expensive ferrets are to keep, 

how common is it that they get a major illness or need surgery.

Is it easy to litter train them, btw? :p Most of the ferrets I saw seemed to be litter trained.

I get to hold them sometimes, and I'm in love with their playful personality. They just seem really expensive.
