For the past year I've bee feeding my 2 guys brown rice, lentils, some oil, and a daily multi-vitamin. They really like their food and gobble it up. In fact, they're quite the garbage disposals and will eat and enjoy most fruits and veggies. It's so easy to make up a large batch and much cheaper than bagged stuff.

Has anyone else tried this? What's your recipe?

I feed my dogs a vegan homemade diet. But I try and vary it as much as I can. I use the Honest Kitchen's 'Preference' as a base - then I add a choice of lentils, quinoa, beans, tofu, tempeh, seitan, brown rice, or whole wheat pasta and a mix of veggies.

It has only been about 3 months. THey are doing very well on it tho

Winkie eats homemade dog biskits, about 4 a day. They're a big part of her diet.

3 cups oats
1 cup flour
1 cup unsalted ground peanuts
1 cup applesauce
2 mashed bananas
A spoonful of vanilla
A dash of cinnamon for variety

Bake like cookies @ 350-degrees for 1/2 hour.

Keep refrigerated.

i make dog cookies
2 cups flour
1 cup oats 1/3 cup peanut butter
1 1/4 cup warm water (it depends how warm depending on what kind of oats you use ie quick cooking or the other kind)

mix, roll out, put on baking sheet 350 degrees 40-50 minutes refrigerate
you can replace the peanut butter with anything
ive done it with diced apples and parsley and it worked out fine
and my dog LOVES them and shes pretty picky

Anyone making homemade dog food should research recipes made just for dogs. Dogs have different nutritonal needs than humans.
