The fact, if it is true, that charred meat tends to cause prostate cancer, does not mean that charred vegetables do NOT cause prostate cancer. If you do an experiment which involves feeding charred meat to one group of rats, and no charred meat to another group of rats, you can't tell if it is the charring, the meat, or both, that are needed to cause the prostate cancer. If a similar experiment were done with charred vegetable, the same thing might happen.

It is my opinion that indeed, cooking any food at high temperatures may cause some cancers. This is on reason I avoid all fried food, including so-called "sauteed" food. I don't know this for sure. It is just what I tend to think would be a good guess. There is nothing in the charred meat experiment that rules out the possibility that prostate cancer can be caused by eating charred sweet peppers, or blackened eggplant, or charred tofu.

Aw hell, everything causes cancer, just some things more than others.
