And if the people won't eat them, maybe their pets will. Gah.

they're selling whale meat as 'natural' dog food? When have you ever seen a dog hunting a whale?

I don't understand where they're coming from with this. First they escalate supplies of dead whales, hoping that demand will escalate accordingly... but the supplies out on the high seas is diminishing... and now they're trying to push it like crazy. None of this makes any sense.

From what I've heard, froggy, it's tied to Japan's fisheries. They think the whales being around is decreasing their fish yields, so they're trying to (excuse the euphemism) kill two birds with one stone by making whales themselves a cash crop. Sad, really.

Maybe we're just overfishing the seas. (Imagine that!)

Correct. That's why so many organisations like the Sea Shepherds and Greenpeace are trying to stop them. They are brazenly flying in the face of the IWC, but no governments seem to want to do anything about it.

If it wasn't for people like the Sea Shepherds and Greenpeace, I would have lost all faith in the human race by now (like so many other people here, I'm not far off).
