(Warning, possibly NSFW: This link contains no full nudity but there is a link to mostly nude pics from previous PETA campaigns towards the bottom)
Now, the group has pulled out all the stops by launching PETA.xxx, a site featuring adult content and animal rights messages, all in one place.
"[T]his is the perfect example of sex just being used to draw interest, and then once you're there on the site, we're going to hit you with facts that you need to know about the world of animals," adult-film legend Ron Jeremy said in a Q&A video.
The site has enough adult content to qualify for the .xxx domain, but also some other graphic images of animals that viewers may not expect to see, according to a HuffPost interview with PETA's Lindsay Rajt.
PETA's .xxx site isn't reserved for just celebrities and adult entertainment stars. Instead, the organization also welcomes regular Joes and Janes to visit the new site and volunteer to go naked at local animal rights demonstrations.
Okay, so I checked out the site. It's ridiculous! It's hardly a porn site and I'm skeptical that anyone looking for porn is going to click on the link in their 'hardcore videos' section. The Sex Tips part made me laugh anyway. PETA knows how to get attention in the silliest way possible as usual.

Probably use different parts of the brain.
Exactly! This just seems like a mess of an idea to me, if it gets anyone to watch Meet Your Meat or look into the issues at all that's great I guess but I'm pretty skeptical this will do anything but give people more reason to make 'People Eating Tasty Animals' jokes

It's pretty ridiculous.

You knew this was coming ...
Â
But is it really such a good idea to associate images of animal torture with sexual arousal?!
To be fair, no doubt PETA got the idea when they, along with everybody else with a prominent website, were forced to buy a .xxx domain name. Instead of just buying the domain name to prevent others from doing so (as no doubt walmart, toys'r'us, huffingtonpost, etc. have), they just decided to use theirs as an active site where they can dump a lot of their pre-existing material.
Â
I tried to see their hardcore videos. Â Was so disappointÂ
I don't think there's actually any porn on that site.
There isn't! It's very disappointing

I was just arguing with a guy on reddit who considers this as effective campaign. I said that people who are searching for porn online aren't going to be in the mood to watch videos on animal cruelty and he said that people looking up PETA porn will. Then I said that if people are Googling PETA they are probably already veg*n anyway, so what's the point? This is just a circle jerk for the already converted and yet another reason to laugh and dismiss animal rights for any mainstream meat eater who stumbles on the site. If they had provided actual porn meat eaters might have stayed on the site long enough to give themselves a happy ending at least

That I have to disagree with. I don't think most people Googling PETA are veg anyway. I think they're curious either about veg*nism or about some PETA stunt. I know a semi-prominent activist who went to PETA's site before he was veg or into animal rights to see what crazy PETA had to say about something - saw videos there - and turned into a vegan and activist.

Well that's something. Hopefully some people looking for masturbation material will actually click the links rather than getting pissed off at the lack of real porn and moving on to Redtube or Youporn or whatever. I am really skeptical that this will convert anyone but hey, it would be pretty funny for someone to be able to say they went vegan because of PETA porn

Â
So, are you saying there is a www.VeggieBoards.xxx website?
Actually, I checked and it's available - you can buy veggieboards.xxx for about $100/year (the .xxx domains cost a lot more than .com/.biz/ etc.). The new extensions are a way for the internet gods that be to extort more money from site owners, although some people like this new trend (in the future, look for .shop, .mac...hell, maybe even .vegan).
Â
I'm actually surprised that veggieboards hasn't bought its own .xxx domain, especially when the price is pretty cheap. Most people bought the .xxx domains corresponding to their flagship websites so that nobody else can set up a .xxx version (I'm sure a corporation like Walmart probably owns walmart.everyextensionavailable). There was a period of time last year where site owners could reserve the .xxx sites for their pre-existing .coms/.nets/etc. before the domains went up for sale to the general public (i.e. the 'land rush period'). Maybe I'll buy veggieboards.xxx and make it into a vegan adult friend-finder ;) It's a sneaky way to capitalize on a known brand.
Â
Personally, as an adult site owner myself, I hate this new trend. Domain names are generally not a big chunk of annual costs, but it can add up when you have to buy multiple extensions for every domain, for multiple domains. It's a naked cash grab.
Or maybe buy it and turn it into a not-for-profit veg community.

I like the site. Peta played a big role in my becoming vegan after several years as a vegetarian. I hope and suspect this site will do the same for others.
Â
Haha, yes! It would be pretty hysterical. :)

Just like with a date, I gave it 5 minutes to show me total nudity, or else I'm out of there. I was ****ing out of there.
It should be noted that although the site address is peta.xxx, the site iteslf does not offer pornography as it's most often described. Instead, the site displays photos already posted on the main Peta site and in countless news stories.

Ok ok, I was around 25 minutes faster than reality on that. Seriously, someone above mentioned a veggie 'adult friend finder' site. That would be" veggie date" which has existed for years. I'm not joking when I say I've met 2 veg women on there and within 1/2 hour of getting to their house, they were stripping my clothes off, after stripping their own clothes off. They were both attractive and quite normal, which means for me, at least, they set the standard. Well, I've been married to one for just about 10 years now.
There's not any porn on the site. I really don't see that there's anything wrong with it. They're upfront about wanting people to watch animal videos.

Some people may disagree with me. But I think it was smart that they did this. I know a lot of people simply just "won't" care about animals or ever go vegan unless it offers sex appeals. I don't want people to go vegan for the wrong reasons, but sometimes that is just how it has to happen in order to get some people to switch to veganism. Ultimately, whatever their reasons, it saves animals. They are who we are really trying to save.
Â
This is also obviously a joke site (but some people may not realize that o.O) and I do believe I have seen comments from many men, vegans and omnivores, that thought this was hilarious and a humorous message to get veganism out there. There have have been obviously some people that misunderstand what is going on and cry "abuse! you guys support abuse." but that's quite silly.
Â
I also think that by being humourous in that way, this boosted Peta's standing with a lot of the "men."
