Here's some good news!

http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/asiapc...2??ruffruffyum

"But some dog owners recoil at the thought (of eating dogs).

"I have eaten dog meat, once when I was young," says Pang, the owner of golden retriever Shunliu. "But now I could never eat dog meat. When others eat dog meat I also tell them they shouldn't. When you really understand dogs you could never eat their meat. You could never be so cruel to your most loyal friend."

Did you ever hear of the truck driver that was stopped at a toll both by a large group of Chinese animal activists? He had a load of dogs on the back that were destined for the meat market and a fellow spotted him, 'Twittered' to everyone he knew, who contacted everyone they knew....until there was a small mob there and they wouldn't let him go for something like fifteen hours while they tried to coax him to let them have the dogs. Apparently the police did nothing as they stood by and watched and ultimately, the dogs were sold to the guy for something in the range of $17,000.00, collected from the crowd and a number of shelters and they were turned over. Medical treatment, food, clean beds and eventually loving homes! My how times have changed in China!

The good thing is that fewer dogs will be slaughtered for food. The bad thing is that as pet dogs become more popular, there will be more puppy mills as a consequence.

slops, gloops, and gruels.
