I have now been veg for almost a year and a half and there has been quite an increase in vegetarian products in stores in my area since then!

When I started, there was one brand of soy milk in most stores and then one store had its own store brand and carried a few alternative brands and "milks."

Now, one finnish food brand has come out with its own soy, rice AND oat milks! Also, the other large store chain JUST added a store brand of soy milk! There have been new types of soy yogurt appearing too.

In the two big grocery stores, the selection of frozen fake meats and veg meals, etc has been slowly increasing too.

I love it when from time to time I see a new product on the shelves! It makes me feel that things will keep improving.

Thanks, i just needed to have a positive rant!

i loved when this happened in the UK a while ago with gluten free stuff- so i can relate. its like xmas has come early, every time you go to the shops -even more so if you've got someone else paying for all of your 'presents'. i'm happy for you.

Same here! There weren't nearly as many veg*n options when I went veg as there are now. And it seems like there's a new product or two cropping up every time I go to the grocery.

I'm so glad to see companies catering to veg*ns and very happy to see prepared foods I can eat popping up in mainstream groceries.

I totally agree with this. It's amazing how things change over time. I've been vegan for coming up 6 years and now in my local supermarket there must be 10 choices of soy milk along with rice and oat. Also products such as vegan ice cream and other goodies keep popping up. I also think the variety i have now comes from my own education. When I first went vegan I had no idea what there was out there. I think it's taken me this 5/6 years to find some things.

Though things to change, I was reading a vegan cookbook from the 1980's ( or it may have been earlier actually) where it mentioned vegan products and where to get them, they were really weird and things like soy milk were given with instructions such as may have to mail order.
