What are PacMan cookies? Those sound intreguing.

Question for anyone who has made the Boston Cream Pie Cupcakes. She uses a block of tofu for the filling, and I can't, due to a family member's soy allergy. Is there anything I could replace this with? Perhaps a nut whipped cream?

Those are too funny. Do you say "Wakka wakka wakka." while eating them?

I'm always trying to eat better, so I usually just look through photos from these type of cookbooks I just HAVE to have them when they come out, but I rarely use them.

I have to have it too. I think my Christmas present to myself will be VPITS and Appetite For Reduction, just to get some balance there.

Not sure if it would be the same for US people but for shipping to NZ bookdepositary is always cheaper for me since they have free shipping, so perhaps you could see how this weighs up to amazon price, see if it would be cheaper for you. http://www.bookdepository.com/Vegan-...ctCurrency=USD

Oh nooo. Book depositary says 35 days to go, so it'd be that plus shipping time, if I ordered it straight away. But I think I am going to order in december and make it my Christmas present to myself anyway. If I can make myself wait that long, otherwise my savings account will get angry at me.

Something must have gone wrong with measurements! Baking soda is used in all kinds of cookies and cakes and doesn't leave a taste.

I've seen 1 to 1 ratio of soda and vinegar. I've seen double the amount of vinegar to soda.

The vinegar goes with the liquid. the soda with the dry and mixed just before baking.

Make sure the oven is preheated and the batter gets put in right after mixing. Don't tap the pan on the counter.

We have an old thread on vegan cake with lots of responses!

In both metric and American measurements

I'm sorry, I don't know what you mean. Do you have tsp. and need metric conversions? the recipe is in both.

Here's a converter that should be helpful:

http://calculator-converter.com/converter_g_to_tsp_grams_to_teaspoons_calculator.php

gram to teaspoons Conversion Chart / Table: teaspoons to grams Conversion Chart / Table:
g = tsp
1.0 = 0.20288
2.0 = 0.40577
3.0 = 0.60865
4.0 = 0.81154
5.0 = 1.01442
gram = teaspoons
6.0 = 1.2173
7.0 = 1.42019
8.0 = 1.62307
9.0 = 1.82596
10  = 2.02884

tsp = g
1.0 = 4.92892
2.0 = 9.85784
3.0 = 14.78676
4.0 = 19.71569
5.0 = 19.71569
teaspoons = grams
6.0 = 29.57353
7.0 = 34.50245
8.0 = 39.43137
9.0 = 44.36029
10  = 49.28922

I hope you try again because it's a very good cake!

You did use baking soda, also known as bicarbonate of soda or sodium bicarb (I think), and not baking powder?

I know people have said they've made that mistake!

tsp means teaspoon.

1/8 tsp is one eighth teaspoon

2/3 tsp is two thirds teaspoon

1 1/2 tsp is one teaspoon and a half teaspoon.
