Hi,

I've just started a "Pumpkin Cob Loaf" recipe:

http://www.homesandgardens.com/cooke...le_155944.html

It refers to "75g sachet easy-blend micronised dried yeast", I presumed this to be the same as the sachets of Easy Bake Yeast (that I have for bread making purposes).

Except of course 75g seems a huge amount?!!

Any prompt advice much appreciated :-)

PS Damn, I spelt my username wrong!

75g seems fine to me. Why are you doubting the recipe?

I haven't done much baking, and since this recipe calls for about 40 times as much yeast as a similar sized loaf of bread it has set of alarm bells in my head! Do I really need to use eleven 7g sachets?

It is a very heavy looking recipe with the pumpkin...?

Here's a recipe for another bread that calls for 42g of yeast: http://www.germanculture.com.ua/recipes/blbak1.htm

It's missing a decimal place -- it should be 7.5 g. Please do not use 11 packets of yeast.

I didn't (phew) .... when I came to adding the yeast I knew it had to be wrong so just used one sachet ... and it came out lovely :-)

Mind you part of me is curious to know what would've happened!

Make another batch but this time with 10 packets and then take photos and post them!

Frankenbake!
