Oh great timing. I'm currently keeping an eye out for one. I grow lots of herbs I'd like to dry and am really interested in making things like tofu jerky.

Excalibur would be the way to go, personally. You can get them used/refurbished/whatever.



It can make good food just as long as you're not stuffing yourself full of dried fruit all the time. Sugar sugar sugar.



They're pretty economical to run. I used to leave mine on all the time as I always had something going - crackers, chips, warming up raw pasta dishes, etc.

is that we can put raw potatoes and raw sweet potatoes to dehydrator as well, and it will cooked them and make them ready to eat ?

I've made raw sweet potato chips. You gotta slice'em really, really thin. I've never done the regular potatoes, though.

I've been thinking about getting one, but don't know how often I'd use it.



Does anyone have a link to some recipes for tofu jerkey or whatever else you make with one of these?

I started a thread a few days ago in the Raw Foods section that has crackers and chips recipes in it. We were also discussing making "bread", too.



I'll see if I can find some tofu jerky recipes.

I ues it mostly for drying herbs that I have an abundance of from the summer, dried fruits for trail mix type stuff, and it's the perfect place to let bread rise. I haven't used it as much as I'd like but that's my fault. I love it in the summer for hiking and camping trips and just generally drying things from the garden. I think it's very economical. HTH!

Oh, no. The raw 'bread' usually isn't anymore than 1" thick, mostly thinner. It makes a good sandwich, though!

I have the 4-tray one. I knew someone that had three of the 9-tray ones. I'd love to upgrade to a 9-tray someday.

Me too! I like mine though just cause if I'm doing something small I don't feel like I'm wasting space. I'd like to have one of each I have so little room in my kitchen that it's actually upstairs in my office right now (sitting next to me right here). It's a big kitchen but with not enough counter and cupboard space.

Have you since tried this recipe? If not, have you found one that you particularly like? I was a huge beef jerky lover pre-veg and I would like nothing more than to be able to make a tofu version.
