I love smoothies, but i can't really find a good smoothie recipe resource out there, does anyone have any suggestions - i've made some really bad ones lately, and although i usually just think "hey well - just everything goes and im sure it will taste nice", and to be fair - this works many times, sometimes it really does not!

Anyone got any recommendations for me?

Vegweb has a section devoted to shakes and smoothies. I really like the Purple Dharma.

Tell me what kinds of fruits you like! I was the manager of a smoothie shop for a year and I made all kinds of tasty concoctions! So if you tell me what you like I can come up with something. My favorite - despite it being VERY sweet is:

-Vanilla icream (you of course can use soy icecream)

-Strawberries

-*concentrated* grape juice

-A few slices of peaches

-A little raw sugar

-Ice

It's sooooooooo sweet but it's amazing lol, I love sweet!

But again, let me know what you like and I'm 100% sure I can come up with some good mixes for ya

Cool!

Well, my favourite fruit is undoubtedly oranges, although i really don't want a smoothie that tastes like, orange juice - does that make sense?

And, i like sweet smoothies (and I guess I would like the one you suggest ), but not too sweet- ice cream in a smoothie does not do neccesarily good with be - i like it to be healthy as well!!

If you like to find a smoothie based on the fruit you like, I've been shown the (fairly new?) smudi.com which does just that it seems.

http://www.smoothieweb.com/ is sorta nice as well, although I've had a couple of smoothies there which were just not very nice

Looking forward to hear what you got for me Vegreenmom!!

Also quite a few smoothie recipes here...

Mine are fairly simple. 2 bananas, a big handful of frozen strawberries, about a cup of frozen blueberries, fill the blender half full of OJ and blend.

I completely understand wanting healthy smoothies, I drink tons of 'em! I don't have time to type everything out right now, but i'll be on my hubby's laptop later and I'll shoot you a comment here with some good ones

Oh, here is one to start off with because it's my husband's favorite. He made it up himself when I was at the smoothie shop and we put it on the menu . The amounts of the fruits don't matter, just mix them up any way you like. I think this one is best if you use about the same amount of each (so like 1/2c of each or whatever):

-Banana

-Pineapple

-Orange Juice

then if you're vegan you can add some agave or sweetener of preference to taste, or if not vegan you can add honey.

It's simple but he is absolutely in love with it.

I'll be back later with more

Nice, thanks a lot Vegreenmom!

It sounds a lot like a pina colada smoothie, except for the coconut? (see for example: http://www.smudi.com/home/frontpage/view_recipe/42).

I'll be sure to try it out!!

If you have any more favourites with oranges, i'll be real happy to hear 'em V.!

Oops - I forgot that we put coconut in it! And exactly, he was making a pina colada type smoothie.

I meant to get back to this sooner but honestly life has been hectic! Hmmm oranges...

I would try:

1. Orange + Vanilla flavored soy ice cream (or you could just mix the oranges with ice and put in some drops of pure vanilla extract)

2. Orange + Peach + Strawberry

3. Orange + Strawberry + Pineapple + a bit of lime juice

4. Orange + Pineapple + Peach

5. Orange + Strawberry + Pineapple + Mango

Hope that helps

you can do half a cantaloupe, an orange and some agave nectar with some ice for an orange creme sort of smoothie.

with any of my smoothies, i make sure to add in some dark leafy greens. great easy way to get a nice greens intake. you usually don't taste them, either, because the fruit overpowers depending on how much of each you put in.
