I've just picked six figs off my fig tree (there are no more to come for a while). Any bright ideas of how to use them?

I could bake them with orange and a bit of brandy - I haven't enough for jam, which is what I'd really like.

When you get enough to make preserves you should they are to die for! I don't know about any other recipies except what ~Brandon mentioned.

It's a shame figs don't grow wildly in Northern Virginia like they do in the south.

A little white wine a little agave necter ( or honey if you eat it but the agave is delish)

little unrefined sugar so you get the molassas taste an orange to sqeeze pinch of cloves and some cinnamon.

Toss the wine orange juice and agave into a sauce pan, till all the sugar is disoled, toss the rest in and cover for a few min just until the figs are tender, let cool and eat.

Course thats all fancy smancy, personaly when I just pop them right into my mouth and chew.

I would say incorporate them into a stuffed butternut squash with couscous, dried cranberries, shallots, and nuts (I like cashews)

Here is something I have been wanting to try... Vegans just put in soymilk, and you're golden

Fresh Fig Gelato

14 ounces (350 g) perfectly ripe figs

1 lemon

1/2 cup milk or soymilk

1/4 cup sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

1. Peel the figs and blend the fig pulp with the juice of one lemon.

2. Combine the milk with the sugar and stir the mixture into the figs.

3. Freeze in an ice cream machine per the manufacturer’s directions.

You can peel a fig?

*I'm still reeling that people can cook figs. They never make it inside with me...*

There are only so many raw figs you can eat! And this coming from a big fig lover.

Wow. I would just eat them too. Six figs? They'd be gone in exactly the next six steps I took. Then I'd turn around and look for more.

We stayed with friends in California two years ago and they had 2 fig trees. We ate ourselves silly and STILL wanted more. I'm not sure, but I don't think there is a limit to how many raw figs you can eat...
