Oatmeal is fantastic, I alternate it with breakfast smoothies in the summer most of the time, but I'm always looking for new ways to spice it up. Here are a few of my current favorite ways to eat it-

+ handful of frozen berries and stevia

+ dash of vanilla, stevia, and cinnamon

+ tsp cocoa powder, pinch of instant coffee, stevia

+ few tablespoons of apple sauce and sprinkle of cinnamon

what are yours?

I keep quick oats and a sugar/cinnamon/raisin/dried apple mixture in my desk at work and mix them with some hot water when I'm hungry.

At home, I prefer steel-cut oats with raisins.

Traditional porridge. I love the stuff in winter! I also like making porridge with 2/3 rolled oats and 1/3 rolled, cut barley or 2/3 rolled oats and 1/3 of rolled, cut rye. Just a dash of cinnamon and/or nutmeg. Some brown sugar. Mmmm....

Anzac biscuits are pretty cool, too. There is a recipe somewhere in the recipe section for Anzac biscuits if you want to go looking for it.

In müesli, with grated apple or pear, dried apricots/cranberries/cherries (altern.), chopped nuts or almond butter, and non-dairy yogurt or fruit juice.

As porridge with a pinch of salt and some non-dairy-cream or margarine, when the weather’s really ugly.

A healthy dose of cinnamon (you can never have too much cinnamon), plus allspice and cloves and a spoonful of brown sugar.

I tend to eat my oatmeal with strawberry or vanilla soymilk, craisins, chopped fresh banana (or any berries I have lying around), ground flaxseed, and cinnamon with a small amount of brown sugar.

I like rolled oats just add raisins and vanilla rice milk and a touch of agave and set in fridge for 1/2 and then eat no cooking required.

I had to look up demerara...first all I could find is that it is a river or a kind of rum...I'm thinking...rum and oatmeal...interesting combination!!

But I kept looking and found out that it is a kind of sugar....I like the rum idea better!!

I like it cooked with

- raisins, cinnamon, and chopped up apple

or

- cinnamon and chopped banana

Sometimes I add ground flaxseed or chopped walnuts.

I also like rolled oats uncooked, mixed with turbinado sugar and soy milk.

I have it with frozen blueberries, vanilla soymilk and stevia just about every day for breakfast. Sometimes I use banana slices or strawberries instead of the blueberries, but usually it's blueberries.

It's delish!

Yes. Turns out great. Needs to be done overnight though. Put your stuff into your thermos, add the boiling water, seal and then it'll be cooked and ready to eat in the morning. Great trick for camping. However, your thermos must be very high quality to retain the heat for the longest time. Cheapo thermoses won't cut it.

I have my Scotts porridge oats cooked with water and nothing but a couple of big dashes of Tabasco sauce. Great way to start the day.

For a change , and to bring a nutty taste to it You can just lightly brown the oatmeal in a fry pan before you do your normal cooking of it

Ooh, that sounds good. I'll have to try that. I usually like my oatmeal with a little soymilk and lots of brown sugar. Sometimes I will put in some dried fruit and cinnamon.
