I've recently discovered that my picky eater loves green smoothies. Well, at least the ones I make. I use spinach, banana, mandarin oranges, peach and strawberry yogurt. I'm thinking though that I might be able to use this as a way to get some more nutrients in him. So what are your favorite recipes to use and what do you think I could add to make them healthier? And I have to admit, I have no idea what kale looks like so I've never tried buying it, lol.

Here's how I make smoothies with grean stuff:

-a handful of either kale or spinach (mild-tasting greens)

-a banana

-a handful of frozen fruit (I use all different types)

-sometimes some fresh fruit like melon, peach, etc.

-enough juice for it to blend well (lately I like to use pure blueberry or pomegranate juice because it's not as sweet)

-a heaping spoonful of flax seed meal

Blend it up and enjoy!

This Green & Gone Smoothie is supposed to be delicious. I have yet to try it, but I want to because I need to get more green in my diet, especially kale.

Here's a photo of kale.

Most green smoothies seem to use water as the base. I didn't like those at all. But when I replaced the water with orange juice it really wasn't bad at all. I have a VitaMix so I also throw in half a lime with peel.

I've found the key is to make it about 50% fruit smoothie and 50% green smoothie.
