Why are some soy milks sold at room temp in the store and some in the refrigerated section? Thanks!

the ones in the refridgerated section are fresh, the others are long life i believe? until u open them then u have like 7 days to use it and must keep it in the fridge.

i've been using the long life ones quite happily. i'll try fresh when i do my mega asda shop next week

I think that the ones in tetra-packs are heated at a higher temperature prior to packaging in order to kill more bacteria and allow them to last longer. I don't notice any taste difference if I buy the same brand refrigerated or in tetra pack, so I buy them interchangeably depending on which is cheaper.
