Sore throat, sneezing, aches, the works. And I can't survive on chinese delivery. Nor do I feel up to going to the store. What should I eat?

I've got onions, brown and red lentils, garlic, ginger, a bunch o' spices, some carrots, turnips and lettuce, basmati rice, some pasta but no pasta sauce, a bunch of different oils and vinegars, a little bit of soy fake-sausage and fake-turkey slices, frozen veggies, artichoke hearts in a jar, capers and sun-dried tomatoes, peanut butter...no soymilk, though I could probably send my husband out for some.

Any ideas?

I'd make a nice salad with the lettuce, sun-dried tomatoes and artichoke hearts, and for the main course either rice and lentils or pasta aglio e olio (olive oil and garlic).

Brown lentil soup with "sausage", spices, garlic, onions and carrots.

Red lentil soup with ginger, onions, carrots, curry(?) if you have it and frozen veggies.

Veggie soup with all the veggies you can find.

Or "turkey" and rice soup with the fake meat, rice, garlic, onions, some carrots and even turnips.

NOTHING sounds better than soup when I'm sick.

I tried the brown lentil soup today, with the soy sausage on the side (don't like soggy soy). It was very good! Tomorrow I'm thinking salad and maybe some red lentil soup...thanks for the suggestions!

Lentil soup is awesome... If you have cayenne, use a fair amount if you're sick with a respiratory condition.

Last time I had something of the sort I made a pot of carrot-ginger soup and it was really nice and soothing.

Other favorites include no-chicken broth with rice and seitan (and maybe peas if i'm feeling ambitious), organic ramen noodles (comes in asst flavors), and depending on how hungry I'm feeling, vegetable soup. A new favorite in our house is "Chicken" and dumplings, which is unchicken broth, either seitan or fake chicken, celery, carrots, garlic, +/- corn and peas, and dumplings. My bf would eat this every night regardless of health status if I kept making it.

When im ill i make sure to drink craploads of vegetable soup.

Nutrients + easy to eat + incredibly lazy (can be micwoaved!) + not too hard to put in an order for with the hubby

I'd eat the mock turkey slices. Nice and filling if you can't eat much.

If shopping is an option, lemon juice is great for a sore throat, if not vegan with honey. My favorite sick food if not too sick to prepare food is a hot bowl of farina.
