So what's the dealy'o with raw chocolate?

I was at Whole Foods yesterday and they had 0.3oz of raw chocolate for $11!!

Eleventy dollars for two bites?!?!!!!!one!!11

The ingredients were: raw cacao + raw agave nectar. And I could imagine it tasting absolutely amazing. But $11? dang.

Anyone try raw chocolate? Was it worth the price?

Are you serious, 0.3oz?? Doesn't that come out to something like $586 per pound?

I have bought the cacao nibs and blended them with agave and macadamia nuts. It was really good, but I wouldn't pay the price you're seeing for it. My agave wasn't raw, but the cacao nibs said they were and I paid less than what you stated.

Raw chocolate is expensive because it is relatively new on the market and there isn't that much of a demand for it.

Lots of times raw chocolate is made from a certain kind of cacao bean. Raw foodists think some cacao beans are better than others. So the high price can often reflect on where the cacao came from

Raw chocolate tastes different than the roasted kind. I think it is good but it is bitter by itself so it is an acquired taste. But raw chocolate is better for you than the roasted stuff!

The agave nectar should give it some sweetness.

I don't care if it's the best chocolate in the world, I still wouldn't pay $11 for a couple of bites. Unless someone else was paying for it haha.

I bought raw chocolate, but it didn't have raw agave with it (luckily I had some at home). It was about $10 for 8 oz. It tasted horrible, until I poured agave nectar all over it. I have yet to try it in a smoothie or something. It's just too bitter to eat by itself, in my opinion.

I've never seen it in a store to buy it. I just make my own with raw cocoa powder, agave nectar, coconut oil, and sometimes vanilla & macadamias or walnuts.

It's worth asking the staff to double-check the price on the sticker. I know when I worked in a grocery store, I wasn't infallible with the sticker gun.

Q: How many poets does it take to change a light bulb? A: 1001...one to change the bulb, 1000 to say it's already been done.
