homemade tofu,tempeh from other beans? - VeggieBoards

Can tofu and tempeh be made at home from beans other than soy? I'm trying to grow my own food and I've had zip luck growing soybeans so far, but I've had good luck growing black eyed peas. Can they be used? Will they have similar properties to soybeans once processed?
