Hi! Listen, the other day I was in my localist health food store (which unfortunately is a while away) and I saw some Rye Flakes.

"MMM! " I said, knowing I had never tried straight Rye Flakes before. So, I got them. The problem is, they were sold by the health food store. They bagged it themselves and everything, so there is no cooking directions and no nutritional facts. So, I have no idea what to do with them.

Well, I was going to make some hot cereal with them tomorrow (preferrably one serving, if you have suggestions) but I have no idea how! Is it just like oats, or what? And how long do they take to cook?

Help would be appreciated!

Use a half cup of flakes to one cup of water. Cook until tender (15-30minutes or more, depending on thickness). You can reduce cooking time by letting them soak overnight.

I appreciate it. Any recommendations as to what to throw in it? Again... I have never had rye flakes as hot cereal before.

I'd just use it like oatmeal.

People at the co-op I'm a member of/volunteer at buy all the different grain flakes and make granolas out of them instead of using all oats.
