What are some of y'all's favorite hummus recipes? Also, some good brands of Tehini that can be found most places. Thanks!

This is the recipe I use...



Quote:

· 1 can (16 oz) garbanzo beans (chickpeas)

· 1 tbsp olive oil

· 2 tbsp tahini

· 4 tbsp lemon juice

· 2 cloves garlic, crushed

· 1 tsp cumin

· 1 tsp tamari



Drain garbanzo beans, saving liquid. Place the garbanzo beans, 3 tbsp liquid, and other ingredients into food processor and blend until smooth.



Sprinkle paprika on top (optional). Refrigerate several hours to overnight.

Oh man this is good and so easy to make! Lower fat than most hummus too.

I love the Athenos Red Pepper Hummus, you can buy this at any Wal*mart or basically any grocery store. I shop at the world (Wallyworld) as it is on my way home from the office.

Mine:



2 cups cooked garbanzos, drained

enough water to make a paste (add gradually)

some olive oil (however much you want)

some cumin (same here)

a couple garlic cloves or to taste

a little sesame oil (again to taste)



Blend or food process until creamy.

My hummus recipe:



1 tin of chickpeas, drained (save the bean water) and chucked in something suitable for whirring..... or mashing.



Then add, to taste:

juice of a lemon

some cumin

a bit of garlic (or tons of garlic if you want ).

some corriander

some ceyanne powder

some lemon pepper (or regular pepper)

some sea salt (or table salt)

some olive oil (extra virgin is nice, but regular works too)

some of the bean juice



Whirr/mash everything together, using the bean juice and oil to get the hummus to a consistency of whipped potatoes (give or take). If you want more of a salad dressing consistency, add a bit more oil/bean juice to thin it down to where you want it.



Enjoy with everything veg*ns can consume.

And, WonderRandy, I used the search, but no recipies came up on the first page, and this one only on the second. I guess people don't post much of the obvious recipie



So, I'm glad somebody asked the obvious, since I never made hummus before...
