This makes me giggle.

My mom and I went to this local Mexican restaurant. On the way there I was thinking hopefully there would be something vegan I could order. In the car my mom was complaining about how I don't eat enough (again) and she was saying "I bet there arn't any other vegans as skinny as you....blah-blah" (yes, mom, I get it...) She barley ever sees me eat cause Im at school half the time, and on the weekends shes never there) Okay so we order. My mom orders a taco salad, I get a buritto. The man says to my mom "Do you want that vegan?" I was so shocked. My mom replies with "uh...no...." and Im like "WOAH yeah Im vegan, make mine vegan." Anyway, we get our food.

The guy made my burrito extra especial

It was fresh, yummy, and not to mention huge. My moms taco salad- Pshht it was probably a handful of lettuce with some salsa on top. She looks blankly at my food "Yours even has huge avocado chunks! I should have gotten that..."

Heh, maybe next time she'll order vegan

Where is this wonderful Mexican restaurant? I live in the L.A. area where there are lots of 'em, and I don't think they EVER make anything vegan!

That rocks! I usually end up giving Mexican places the third degree and instructing them on how to prepare their food so I can eat it. Be sure you recommend this place to people, and tell your mother that an adult stated she does not need to be embarassed by your diet.

There's a burrito (more fast food almost) sorta place here that has a Vegan Burrito listed on their menu. (TacoDelMar for anyone who has one near them...) Whenever I take friends there they see how PRETTY and YUMMY my burrito looks and always say "I'm ordering that next time..."

Last time I was in, the young man making my order said "I had never heard the word vegan until I came to work here, but I found out that burrito is one of the most popular items on our menu so I was curious and had to read and find all about what a vegan was. All you vegans that come in here are pretty cool people."

YAY! I just think it's nice that one more person has learned about veganism and views it positively.
