I ran across this crock-pot tuna casserole that I would like to make, of course with substitutions. Has anyone tried to make fake tuna with tofu, or would I just be better off with a chicken flavor.

They make fake tuna, called Tuno, I've never had it though. Can't seem to find it around here.

Umm.. Tuno is the nastiest stuff I've ever tasted or smelled, but some people like it. Here's a thread on the subject:

It probably didn't help that I never liked fish to begin with, so it may be okay.

I had it. Still have leftovers in the fridge. Natural Touch is the brand. It should do fine as a substitute.

Tuno is great stuff. My omni hubby even loves the stuff. You can find it in a can or in the freezer section in the hfs.

You might be able to find a "tuna" roll in asian groceries, too. It's not terribly fishlike in texture, but it tastes pretty good.

I'm eating Tuno right now (it was frozen, not canned). Yum!

Thanks for all of the advice. I will try a couple of these, and see how it goes.

I had Tuno again today. I don't dislike it, but I don't like it enough to buy it again. I won't miss it.
