It is cheap and I can control how much fat and sweetener are used and the quality of the ingredients. I personally don't like my sweets too sweet and I've found that you can reduce the sugar in many recipes by at least half without affecting the end result.
What kinds of sweets do you like? Some things, like sorbet, dessert tofu and agar-based desserts, are naturally low-fat. Beyond that, I agree that your best bet is to make your own. theppk.com has a bunch of great dessert recipes.
Also try fruit smoothies using bananas, silk light (or any other low-fat soymilk), ice (optional) and/or you could even add a little cocoa powder if you crave chocolate. Any other fruit smoothie combos would do the trick, as well.
i bought these gummi bears from whole foods i forget the brand, but the come in 80 calorie bags which are good. i usually make my stuff unless its candy
